Virgin Chrissopigi is the patron saint of the island. The monastery is built on a spectacular location, perched on a rock that penetrates the sea and separates Faros Bay in two. The whitewashed church was built in 1615 to house the painting of Zoodochos Pigi, which was found by fishermen in the sea.
The celebration of the Ascension is followed by a feast and all the inhabitants of the island celebrate together.
