The monastery was founded in 1904 by the Director of the Rizarios Ecclesiastical School of Athens/ Metropolitan of Pentapolis, Nektarios Kefalas. The monastery, dedicated to the Holy Trinity was built on the ruins of an older monastery (Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi which was founded by Saint Athanasia).
Today the monastery and the beautiful church of Agios Nektarios are a pilgrimage destination for thousands of Greek and foreign believers who visit the place throughout the year. The monastery houses the relics of Saint Nektarios and you can also visit the room where he lived and wrote.
The monastery is celebrated on November 9th (Saint Nektarios Assumption). Another celebration takes place on September 3rd; the day of exhumation and transfer of the Saint’s relics.
