The Folklore Museum of Chalkis was founded in 1981 by Evia Studies Company and the Municipality of Chalkis. It is housed in three halls of the historic castle Negroponte. It houses more than 1,200 artifacts, precious handmade objects and objects of daily life of past eras that no longer exist nowadays.
In the first room, visitors can admire costumes from North, Central, South Evia and Skyros. The second room represents a neighborhood of Chalkis with the bourgeois house of the 20th century. The third room represents scenes from rural life: the farmer, the shepherd, the beekeeper, the weaver.
